Chassis & Suspension

The suspension in this car is O.K. in stock form, so I left it alone for a while.  At the beginning of Summer 2000 I decided it was time for something better.  The first thing I did was buy a set of springs from Hotchkis and a set of high performance Monroe shocks.

I didn't even want to attempt putting on the front springs, so I let a chassis shop do it.   I did put the back springs and shocks on myself, though.

While I was at it, I decided to put some new wheels and tires on my car.  I wanted something different than anything else I'd seen, so I looked around for the right wheels for quite awhile.  I found some really cool 17" rally wheels from Wheel Vintiques.  I wanted some aluminum wheels, but these steel ones look so cool.  They didn't cost too much either.  I had the rims chromed and the centers painted the same color as my car. The center caps are the old police style.

I needed to get some equally cool tires to go around these wheels, so I bought 4 BF Goodrich Comp T/A HR4's.  My rims are 8" wide, and I didn't want any rubbing, so I went with 245/50-17's.  I got all the same size this time so I could rotate them.  They look real good.

The Engine Compartment

While the engine was out, I decided to make the frame look as good as my new engine.  Everything is covered in a few layers of POR-15.
